Governor Abbott Presents Opening Texas Report, Leander Chamber’s Smart Restart Guide, & Leander Smart Restart Seal of Approval
- Governor will let his emergency declaration expire on April 30.
- Restaurants and movie theaters can open up at 25% occupancy.
- Others permitted to return to work May 1 include sole proprietors, doctors, nurses, dentists and other health care professionals.
- Phase 2 of Abbott’s reopening plan could begin as early as May 18. That phase would expand the occupancy limits of retail businesses to 50%, with further increases allowed in the future as long as COVID-19 remains contained.
- Texas has tripled the size of the Texas Workforce Commission’s staff in an effort to deal with nearly 2 million unemployment claims filed since the pandemic began.
As a result of the press conference, the Leander Chamber of Commerce has prepared a local Smart Restart Guide as well, it:
- is designed to help local business reopen if they can do so safely.
- presents the Smart Restart Seal of Approval. This allows consumers to know that your business is following safe protocols.
