Halff Associates Inc. The Halff story began back in 1950 when Dr. Albert H. Halff hung out a shingle in Dallas and founded the one-man consulting firm that would one day become one of the nation’s largest engineering companies. His vision: A company dedicated to improving the lives of real people in real communities. In 1953, Dr. Halff and his partner Allen Hundley each contributed $1,000 to form “Hundley and Halff.” In 1960, Dr. Halff amicably split with Hundley and formed “Albert H. Halff Associates” in Dallas. Under Dr. Halff’s leadership, the firm became a pioneer in hydraulics, hydrology, and floodplain management, and grew to be one of the largest independently owned consulting engineering firms in Texas. More than seven decades later, Dr. Halff’s vision is being realized—and then some—continuing his rich legacy of serving people and communities through smarter engineering and architectural solutions.

KFA quickly grew into an established civil engineering consulting firm, providing services to our public sector clients with a special emphasis on water, wastewater, transportation and drainage planning, design, and management projects.In May 2023, KFA was acquired by Lochner, a leading provider of planning, environmental, design, construction engineering and inspection, and right-of-way services for surface transportation, rail, transit, and aviation clients across the United States. MWM DesignGroup’s core values have been the foundation for our continued success. Originally Martinez and Wright Engineers, MWM DesignGroup was founded in Austin, Texas in 1980 by Roberto O. Martinez, P.E. and Michael B. Wright, P.E., R.P.L.S., to provide civil engineering and land surveying services to both public and private clients throughout Texas. From the very beginning, Roberto Martinez and Michael Wright promoted three core values for the company: Through genuine teamwork, consistently exceed client expectations; Treat every employee and every client like family; Serve the community’s best interests, both professionally and personally.
