Election Results and Elected Officials Reception

After a close runoff election, final results of the 2021 Leander general election are in.

Mayoral winner: Christine Sederquist

New mayor Christine Sederquist accepted her new role in a speech and compared being a mayor of a growing city to the experience of being a new mother.

“I’m committed to you completely and will worry about you twenty-four hours a day. With every milestone I’m going to be your biggest cheerleader and with every fall I’m going to bring comfort and do whatever I can to make it better.”

Place 2 winner: Esmeralda Traube

Esmeralda Traube, who won the Place 2 Council seat thanked her volunteers and citizens who voted in the general election.

“I’m humbled to be elected to represent all of Leander. I want to thank all those who volunteered to those who voted for me; thank you so much! I couldn’t have done it without the support of the community! Even if you didn’t vote for me, I will work with you as well to make Leander an amazing city that we all want to live in. Just as I did during my campaign, I will continue to be available and respond to your questions. I’m ready to get to work!”

Place 4 winner: Nacole Thompson

Nacole Thompson thanked her team and supporters in a speech on June 5 after the winners were announced.

“I’m just so thankful to have the opportunity to serve and to do it with class and do it in a way that Leander can be proud of, and that we can work with our new mayor and I thank her for her support too.”

Place 6 winner: Becki Ross

Becki Ross posted her acceptance on May 10 thanking the voters and volunteers on her team. Ross also let everyone know about the swearing in and sounded excited to “get to work.”

“Thank you for electing me to represent your interests on our City Council. I will work to represent each of you well with the singular goal of making Leander better!”
